Sharrow Lantern Carnival

Every year in this wonderful city of Sheffield, Sharrow Lantern Carnival takes place. A theme is set a few months in advance, the previous year I photographed the event it was fish but this year it was creepy crawlies. Hands are then made busy at local workshops held in schools, community centres and bars to build colourful lanterns of all shapes and sizes which are then paraded around the Sharrow estate to the cemetery where a rally is held.

Now as a photographer who lives on the boarder of Sharrow, I have photographed this event a fair few times now. Any photographer will tell you that when repeatedly photographing the same event it’s always a challenge to get some “different” looking photos.

Luckily this year I had the prism, making it all a little easier, the bright lights and colours seemed perfect for some colourful experimentation.  I thought id go with a slide show this time to mix things up, just click to flick:

Heres a few “normal” shots if your eyes are feeling a little weird from all the Prism action.

If you want to license any of these photos or perhaps see the ones i took the last year please head over to http://www.reportdigital.co.uk and search “lantern”. To get involved in the carnival next year head over to:
